Case study
Surfyx
Surf tracking app and social network for surfers. Track your sessions, rate surf spots, follow other surfers, and find instructors or board rentals nearby.
Surfyx is a surf tracking app that records your sessions and shows you the numbers: wave count, ride length, top speed, and session duration. After each surf, you get a breakdown of how you performed and how it compares to your previous sessions. Over time, you see your progression as a surfer in real data, not just gut feeling.
It's also a social network built specifically for surfers. You post your session results, follow other surfers, and see what people are catching at your local break or anywhere in the world. Every surf spot has its own page with ratings, recent sessions, and conditions reported by the community. You can filter by location to find the best spots near you or scout new ones for your next trip.
Surfyx includes a marketplace where you can find surf instructors nearby, rent boards by the hour or day, and book surf trips. If you're a beginner looking for your first lesson or a traveler who doesn't want to fly with a board, the marketplace connects you with local providers in seconds.
I co-founded Surfyx because the surfing world had fitness trackers and social media, but nothing that combined both with a local marketplace. Surfers were using Strava for tracking, Instagram for sharing, and Google for finding instructors. We put it all in one app.
Available on iOS with an Android version coming soon. Whether you surf every day or once a year on vacation, Surfyx gives you a reason to paddle out and a way to remember every wave.
